About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Counsel to lead a team of attorneys in providing casualty-based claims legal support. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal and organizational issues, including serving as the primary liaison for the casualty claims executive leader(s) and leading the team in identifying and assessing legal risks. This role requires the ability to create and implement effective solutions to complex legal problems, as well as strong leadership and management skills to oversee the team's day-to-day operations. The Managing Counsel will also be involved in strategic decision-making, interacting with senior leaders, and ensuring compliance with legal and budgetary requirements.
Candidates for the Managing Counsel position should have a JD degree from an accredited law school, an active attorney license, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant legal experience. The role demands a high level of legal expertise, broad business acumen, and a proven track record of leadership. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in casualty claims and have significant experience in project management, staff coaching, and development. Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to lead cross-functional projects and negotiate effectively. The role is pivotal in the company's legal and business strategy, and the candidate should be adept at managing complex legal matters with a focus on the long-term business and strategic consequences.
