About the position

The Assistant Relationship Manager is an entry-level position associated with commercial lending, designed to provide comprehensive exposure to all facets of commercial lending. This role is pivotal in developing the employee into a proficient commercial lender. The Assistant Relationship Manager will work closely with Relationship Managers and Lending Assistants to manage both existing and new customer relationships effectively. The position entails assisting in various tasks such as financial gathering, loan documentation, managing customer payments and past dues, and supporting deposit-related efforts. Additionally, the Assistant Relationship Manager will conduct necessary research to prepare loan submission packages, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and complete. In this role, the Assistant Relationship Manager will assist Relationship Managers in the closing and documentation of new and existing credit facilities, and will attend loan closings to gain firsthand experience. The position also involves supporting Relationship Managers during calls with new and existing bank clients, thereby enhancing customer engagement and relationship-building skills. The Assistant will play a crucial role in preparing loan submission packages for new loans and renewals of existing loans, which includes creating financial spreads, cash flow statements, commercial real estate models, and Return on Equity (ROE) models. Furthermore, the Assistant will direct financial statements to commercial credit analysts for spreading and analysis, ensuring that all financial data is accurately processed. Research is a significant component of this position, as the Assistant will draft company reports for both new and existing clients, which will include company histories, financial analyses, collateral analyses, and evaluations of the strengths and weaknesses of any loan requests. The Assistant will also compile targeted potential business client lists for Relationship Managers to utilize in business development efforts. Other responsibilities include assisting with exceptions, credit file maintenance, credit monitoring requirements, and preparation for portfolio reviews and required covenant maintenance. The role requires obtaining and retaining product knowledge, as well as providing backup support for managing the internal audit, external audit, and examination processes related to lending. Overall, the Assistant Relationship Manager will perform various related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the lending team.

Responsibilities
? Assist relationship managers in the closing and documentation of new and existing credit facilities and attend loan closings

? Assist relationship managers with calls on new and existing bank clients and attend calls
,
? Support relationship managers in the preparation of loan submission packages for new loans and renewals of existing loans including financial spreads, cash flow statements, commercial real estate models and ROE models

? Direct financial statements to commercial credit analysts for spreading and analysis
,
? Research and draft company reports for new and existing clients, including company histories, financial analysis, collateral analysis, global cash flow analysis, and strengths and weaknesses of any loan requests

? Research and draft industry reports for existing and potential customers from available public information, trade publications, and additional resources
,
? Compile targeted potential business client lists for relationship managers to utilize in business development
,
? Assist relationship managers with exceptions, credit file maintenance, credit monitoring requirements, preparation for portfolio reviews and required covenant maintenance
,
? Obtain and retain product knowledge
,
? Provide back-up support for managing the internal audit, external audit and examination process with respect to lending
,
? Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
? A high school diploma or equivalent required
,
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and procedure manuals
,
? Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
,
? Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
,
? Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
,
? Ability and motivation to make sales calls
