Senior Underwriter, Leisure Travel

We are seeking an outgoing, energetic, and self-motivated Senior Underwriter to join our Accident & Health, Leisure Travel team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of travel insurance, enabling them to effectively assess and underwrite both new and renewal business. This role requires close collaboration with our Accident & Health Leisure Travel Leadership and a focus on evaluating proposals, making product recommendations, and monitoring the profitability of the Leisure Travel portfolio.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Underwriter?s primary responsibility is to underwrite risks through a demonstration of the following skills and abilities:
? Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions. Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the insured. Ability to provide product recommendations based on thorough analysis.
? Risk Assessment. Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze both new and renewal business requests to evaluate their viability.
? Financial proficiency. Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets.
? Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods.
? Systems and programs. Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business.
? Product Development. Ability to coordinate the implementation of new products. Assess and review current filings, including rates and policy wording to collaborate with actuary and product teams. Ability to evaluate existing products and recommend enhancements or necessary changes to meet market demands.
? Portfolio Management. Ability to conduct monthly reviews to monitor financial performance. Ability to perform quarterly portfolio analysis and present leadership with strategic decisions. Assist with internal and external audits related to Leisure Travel.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: ? Bachelor's degree. ? A minimum of 5 years of experience in the travel insurance or insurance sector. ? Comprehensive understanding of the travel insurance or insurance industry and its regulatory environment. ? Strong knowledge of travel industry structure and dynamics. ? Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. ? Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.

The pay range for the role is $114,600 to $194,800. The specific offer will depend on an applicant?s skills and other factors.
