About the role: API & Web QA Analyst

We seek someone who is first and foremost passionate about ensuring the quality and reliability of our back-end services and web applications that meet client and consumer needs. To succeed with FinLocker, you will need experience partnering closely with developers, product leads, designers, and architects as one product team. You will be responsible for designing and building manual and automated testing primarily focused on our API infrastructure and back-end services, with additional responsibilities for our client and consumer facing web applications.

Automation is a key focus area for this role. We're looking for someone who can not only execute tests but also build and maintain robust automation frameworks that will scale with our growing platform.

You will work closely with our software developers to construct manual and automated testing frameworks with a strong emphasis on API testing. Our tech stack is hosted in Microsoft Azure, includes .NET 8 and C# for back-end services, Entity Framework, SQL Azure, Synapse Analytics, Cosmos DB, Generative AI, data provider APIs and Angular for web development. You will need extensive experience with API testing, microservices architecture, and back-end data validation, along with knowledge of front-end testing principles.

Our goal, every day, is to deliver a platform that meets the needs of our customers, who are primarily companies in the mortgage and banking industry, and the homebuyers who are the end users of our product.

What you'll do:
Test Strategy & Automation
? Design and execute comprehensive test plans with primary focus on back-end services and APIs
? Develop, maintain, and expand robust automation frameworks for API and back-end service testing
? Build reusable, maintainable, and scalable automated test suites that integrate with our CI/CD pipelines
? Clearly define acceptance testing criteria to optimize testability across the entire stack
? Analyze test results and provide recommendations for improving test coverage and effectiveness

Quality Assurance Execution
? Conduct thorough API testing to validate back-end functionality, data integrity, and service integration
? Extend testing coverage to include relevant front-end web interfaces
? Perform regression testing to ensure software updates do not impact existing functionality
? Identify and document software defects with clear steps to reproduce and relevant evidence
? Identify and document latency issues both in the backend APIs and web applications

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
? Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
? Continuously improve the applications; find bugs and suggest longer-term investments for improving application performance
? Identify instrumentation needed to ensure we can fully understand consumer utilization and allow rapid issue resolution
? Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize testing efficiency
? Build strong working relationships across the development, product, customer success, and technical operations teams

We Seek Someone Who Has:
? 3+ years of back-end and API testing experience, with strong emphasis on microservices and data validation
? Demonstrated experience building and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks
? Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
? Advanced proficiency with Postman and other API testing tools
? Strong SQL skills to validate data integrity, write complex queries, and test database operations
? Experience with RESTful API principles and testing methodologies
? Knowledge of test automation best practices, including design patterns and maintainability principles
? Working knowledge of Angular web framework testing as a complementary skill
? Experience with .NET/C# environments (preferred)
? Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and QA best practices
? Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
? Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
? Prior working experience in a startup OR demonstrable startup mentality (e.g., bias to action, willingness to test and fail in order to learn, comfort with uncertainty)
? Comfort with remote working, pet-filled Teams calls, and pun-oriented jokes!

What we offer:
? A remote work environment
? Competitive salary and equity package
? A 401K plan
? Company paid comprehensive health and dental insurance
? Unlimited PTO policy
? A creative, collaborative, and growth-oriented work environment
? The chance to make a meaningful impact on people's lives by improving their financial fitness and supporting every step of their homeownership journey

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000, with candidates possessing extensive automation framework development experience and proven track records of implementing successful test automation strategies qualifying for the higher end of the range.
