About the position
Under the general supervision of the Office Services Supervisor I, the Office Assistant is responsible for the bulk of the daily paperwork generated by uniform personnel and answering phones for the King City Area Office. Responsible as the main counter and telephone receptionist for the Area's front office. Answer and route all incoming calls in an efficient and professional manner. Greet and assist all visitors at the public counter which includes the sale of reports and receiving deliveries. Provide basic information to media/public inquiries regarding accidents or departmental business as well as information regarding local road hazards and weather. Process the Area's collision report requests by writing receipts for checks received and mailing them out to requesters, file arrest reports with the District Attorney and enter case file information into the database and file hard copies while updating case adjudication information utilizing the local court system. Clear vehicles from CERT (CLETS Electronic Record Tracking) system and send out storage/impound notices for CHP 180 Vehicle Reports and do the necessary checks and follow-ups for stolen and recovered vehicles. Process CHP 215 Notice to appear and enter statistical data into SACS (stat keeping system) and file them by books and verify and maintain office copies of citations. CHP 411 Notice of Correction and Proof of Service and other departmental forms. Maintain files and enter data into the computer system. Process and distribute all incoming mail and packages. Prepare and process all outgoing mail.

Requirements
? Ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications.

? Valid typing certificate confirming ability to meet the minimum typing speed.

? Background investigation clearance prior to hiring.
