Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aid (CNA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) is responsible for providing direct patient services, performing phlebotomy, and supporting clinical operations in our clinic. This role includes collecting and processing lab specimens, assisting the nurse practitioner and nurse, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a clean and safe clinic environment.

Nurse Practitioner

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Duties
? Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling and labeling of specimens.
? Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
? Assist healthcare providers with HIV testing, STI screening, and other diagnostic procedures.
? Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the provider.
? Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, height, and weight).
? Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as needed.

2. Patient Care & Education
? Educate patients on treatment adherence and medication administration.

3. Administrative Duties
? Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMRs).
? Assist with scheduling patient appointments, referrals, and follow-ups.
? Manage inventory of medical supplies, ensuring proper stocking.
? Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
? Assist in completion of various patient care forms, insurance referrals and consent forms.

4. Infection Control & Safety
? Follow standard precautions and infection control guidelines in handling bloodborne pathogens.
? Properly dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps containers.
? Adherent to occupational exposure protocols (e.g., Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for needle-stick injuries).

5. Team Collaboration
? Work closely with nurse practitioner, nurse and care coordinators to provide comprehensive patient care.
? Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
? Support community outreach and education programs when needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Certification:

? High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
? Completion of a Medical Assistant or Nurse Aid training program from an accredited institution.
? Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aid (CNA).

? Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or documented experience in blood draws (preferred).

Experience:

? At least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting.
? Experience with venipuncture, specimen handling, and lab protocols.
? Knowledge of HIV care, STI testing, and infection control measures is preferred.

? Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and lab safety.
? Ability to work compassionately with diverse populations.
? Excellent communication and patient education skills.
? Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Work Conditions & Schedule:
? Location: Dignity Health Management Center
? Hours: Full-time, Monday ? Thursday (closed on Fridays)
? Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, and lifting to 25 lbs.
