MOTOR VEHICLE BRANCH MANAGER, Tax Office
Posted 2025-04-22? The Branch Manager has overall responsibility for management of motor vehicle transactions, property tax transactions, and staff in the branch locations.
? The positions are responsible for ensuring motor vehicle transactions, registrations, and titles are processed accurately and timely.
? In addition, the position is responsible for managing property tax and VIT collections at the branch locations.
(Employees may be required to work at any Tax Office location).

? Responsible for motor vehicle, property tax, and VIT transactions and funds collected and all other daily operations of the branch office. May accept deposits and documents from other County departments.
? Manages a team of customer service professionals in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
? Collaborates and cooperates with others to build effective working relationships.
? Provides internal and external customer service to accomplish organizational goals.
? Directly supervises the Assistant Branch Manager and indirectly a customer service team.
? Maintains attendance, production, and periodic evaluations for staff assigned to sub-courthouse location. Responsible for accurate attendance reports, timesheet approval, and annual appraisals in a timely manner.
? Assists in developing and maintaining procedures and associated documentation.
? Resolves daily staffing issues and work assignments to ensure maximum productivity.
? Resolves difficult problems and researches motor vehicle, property tax, and VIT questions to provide appropriate response. Exercises some discretionary judgment in processing transactions when allowed by law or statute.
? Generates and presents periodic reports to management.
? Assigns employees to appropriate training programs. Trains staff on new processes and procedures. Provides appropriate discipline to assigned staff. May participate in hiring of new employees and recommendations for promotions of existing employees.
? Reviews funds collections and corresponding transactions on a regular basis.
? Develops plans for handling special projects or programs.
? Ensures all error reports generated by the National Motor Vehicles Information System and Texas Department of Motor Vehicle are resolved correctly and timely.
? Ensures staff withholds registration for records flagged for North Texas Toll Authority violators and parents with delinquent child support.
? Oversees ordering and maintaining required supplies and inventory. Ensures level of supplies and inventory required is available, accurately accounted for, and secured. Personally responsible for inventory records and in the office possession.
? Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Tax Office as assigned or required.

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher + Three (3) full-time years of motor vehicle transaction work experience with Two (2) years of work experience as a Supervisor, Assistant Branch Manager, or a Manager in an environment that uses the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMV?s webDEALER, or another state?s motor vehicle system.

TO APPLY, must have an Associate's degree + Five (5) full-time years of motor vehicle transaction work experience with Two (2) years of work experience as a Supervisor, Assistant Branch Manager, or a Manager in an environment that uses the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMV?s webDEALER, or another state?s motor vehicle system.

TO APPLY, must have a High School diploma or GED + Seven (7) full-time years of motor vehicle transaction work experience with Two (2) years of work experience as a Supervisor, Assistant Branch Manager, or a Manager in an environment that uses the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMV?s webDEALER, or another state?s motor vehicle system.
Must obtain Certified County Tax Professional certification within Five (5) years.
Strong money handling and customer service skills required.
Experience in processing motor vehicle and property tax transactions required.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, grasp/squeeze, use hand tools, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, tolerate noise, reach, reach overhead, perform repetitive tasks, see color, see far, see near, sit, stand, talk, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, and work alone and with others.
