FLSA Status: Exempt Job Title: Director of Communications & Marketing Manager POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Communications and Marketing will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and VP of Programs and Corporate Partnerships. This position is responsible for leading brand management efforts, overseeing content distribution, email marketing, advertising, partnership development, and public relations initiatives. The Director will also act as the media relations expert, helping to promote the organization and increase its visibility across various platforms. Through integrated marketing and communications strategies, this role will amplify the organization?s presence, bringing attention to its diverse programs, events, and initiatives within the broader community. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities of the Director of Communications and Marketing include, but are not limited to: Foster a positive work environment by communicating in a professional and collaborative manner with students, mentors, donors, coworkers, and management, in alignment with the organization?s mission. Lead proactive media outreach to enhance brand awareness, positioning the organization as a thought leader within its industry. Cultivate and manage relationships with media outlets to secure future opportunities and visibility. Oversee the execution of email marketing campaigns for all departments and programs. Develop and lead a dynamic digital and social media strategy, continuously adapting to market trends and optimizing engagement through analytics. Identify and capitalize on emerging industry trends, leveraging digital tools and social media platforms. Direct and oversee the execution of marketing campaigns, offering strategic recommendations to drive revenue and engagement. Coordinate and manage internal projects, campaigns, and vendor relationships, including overseeing seasonal communication interns. Provide strategic leadership for new projects, managing team priorities and ensuring the timely completion of cyclical and ad hoc tasks. Manage relationships with vendors and consultants, ensuring measurable results and adherence to established metrics. Oversee the creation of marketing materials, managing graphic design projects from conception to completion, and ensuring consistent brand voice, vision, and aesthetic. Oversee and maintain internal communications, including managing website updates and internal/external project needs. Capture impactful stories from students, alumni, partners, mentors, and others in the community through diverse media. Supervise the creation and production of the annual report. Draft language and speeches for executive leadership for public speaking opportunities. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Demonstrates strong alignment with the organization?s mission, vision, and values. Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills, including experience with branding, proofreading, and design oversight. Expertise in managing and growing social and digital advertising campaigns, with measurable results. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and with great attention to detail. Proven ability to develop and maintain beneficial media relationships on behalf of the organization. Ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects, and work autonomously with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team, under pressure, and within deadlines. Creative and innovative thinker with a proactive approach to proposing solutions, presenting new opportunities, and recommending best practices. Capacity to anticipate challenges and resolve conflicts effectively by identifying opportunities for improvement. Ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of work. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, engender trust, and maintain professionalism. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams) and creative design software. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant work experience in communications and marketing. In-depth understanding of website content management systems. Experience managing and engaging social media communities for brands. Proven experience with print and online advertising. Strong background in managing staff and vendor relationships. Experience with executing targeted email and social media outreach campaigns. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift up to 15-20 pounds as needed. Evening and weekend work may be required. Occasional travel may be required depending on business needs.
