The College of Law Technology Office provides both technical support for faculty, staff, and students as well as AV support in classrooms, courtrooms, and conference rooms. This includes equipment installation, desktop support, vulnerability remediation, end user training, classroom recordings, AV needs for events, and specialized software administration.

Responsibilities

AV Manager for College of Law and ITAPP (Information Technology Administration Partnership Program). Partnership delivering on-site information technology services to support the mission of the College of Law. Manages all audio-visual (AV) needs, staff, and AV solutions for various room types and equipment. Oversees all classroom and courtroom technical support, provides technical advice, and troubleshoots complex audio and video issues. Plans, manages, and deploys technology enhancement projects for classrooms, courtrooms, and other AV-enabled spaces. Serves as assistant IT manager and provides leadership and guidance to the College of Law IT office.

The AV Manager serves as the department's assistant manager. Liaises and works with executive leadership, faculty, staff, students, external groups, Information Technology Services (ITS), and Human Resources (HR). Provides leadership and oversight, including managing staff, projects, and equipment. Additionally, ensures that all departmental AV systems are efficient and effective to meet the organization's needs.

Designs, integrates, and maintains multimedia A/V equipment for the College of Law, including video conference and lecture capture systems. Troubleshoots and supports A/V equipment in technology-enhanced classrooms and equipment rooms. Coordinates repairs and makes recommendations for new equipment/technology. Performs product matching, compatibility research, and testing. Assists with writing proposals for technology upgrades and managing installation projects.

Oversees A/V for College of Law events on and off campus. Ensures timely and accurate audio and video equipment setup and instructs staff, faculty, and students on A/V equipment used in classrooms.

Ensures automated lecture capture is scheduled and performed properly. Works with professors on recording preferences-liaises with the Office of Accessibility Services to enable CART services and other technology-related student accommodations.

Supervises and trains direct reports. Approves time entry, creates work schedules, and provides ongoing performance feedback. Maintains documentation and procedures for all A/V systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Assists with supporting computer and network issues for faculty, staff, and students, including administration and troubleshooting of exam software during final exams.

Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

What is a typical day in this position?

A typical day includes reviewing the upcoming events and classes and assigning staff accordingly to assist. Reviewing, coordinating, and participating in installation projects for new tech. Troubleshooting AV issues and assisting faculty, which may include creative thinking to solve the problem. Ensuring classroom recordings are functioning and disseminated accordingly. Assisting the IT Director with classroom tech upgrade planning and proposal writing. Every day brings something different, which keeps it interesting.

What can I expect in the first 60-90 days?

The first 60-90 days will be spent shadowing others in the technology department to learn our layout and systems. They'll accompany the IT Director to meetings to build relationships with other key players in the law school, as well as the overall culture. Additional trainings will be scheduled specific to the candidate's needs to help them succeed.
