About the position

As a Control Systems Lead at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational performance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) controls systems. This position is integral to the Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) team, which is essential for maintaining the speed and accuracy that Amazon is known for. You will lead a team of service technicians, guiding them in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of MHE controls systems. Your expertise will be crucial in designing solutions for complex problems and managing various projects that enhance operational efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting a safe working environment by adhering to all safety procedures. You will troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, and work with various industrial networks and motor control systems. As the first level of escalation support for the control system technician teams, you will ensure that any downtime situations are promptly escalated to vendors or headquarters for resolution. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring MHE metrics and collaborating with Controls Technicians and Mechanics to address electrical problems that hinder performance. You will conduct controls systems assessments to maintain and improve equipment reliability, and partner with Facility Operations leadership and equipment vendors to plan and coordinate new technology installations. Effective communication with building leadership and the maintenance team will be essential to explain technical issues and project timelines, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the impact on operations. Additionally, you will develop training plans for Control Systems Technicians, fostering their growth and expertise in the field. The role requires physical capability, as you may need to move up to 49lbs and stand or walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
? Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures

Requirements
? 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
,
? Associate's degree, or 2+ years of professional or military experience
,
? Associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent
,
? Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Nice-to-haves
? Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
,
? 5+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components)

? 5+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs

? 3+ years with SCADA systems and KPI's

? 3+ years of experience supporting a wide range of conveyors and sortation systems

? Leadership and project management experience
