The Coordination Officer (Security Sector Reform) position is located within the United Nations Security Sector Reform (SSR) Unit in the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions. The role involves coordinating responses to SSR support requests from various UN entities, engaging with regional partners, and assisting in the development and implementation of SSR programs and policies. The officer will also participate in field assessments, develop training modules, and produce high-quality written outputs to support SSR initiatives.
Responsibilities
? Coordinate responses to queries and requests for SSR support from assigned UN peacekeeping operations and other entities.

? Engage with SSR chiefs/advisors and senior leadership to ensure holistic SSR support.

? Assist in the development and roll-out of the Unit's SSR and leadership workstream.

? Participate in the annual C-34 consultation process and other peacekeeping-related initiatives.

? Develop and strengthen partnerships in the area of SSR with regional/multilateral organizations.
,
? Review and consolidate good practices and insights on SSR for knowledge management.
,
? Participate in field and technical assessment missions, providing guidance to external consultants and officials.
,
? Assist in policy and guidance development, including producing CROSSROADS guidance modules.

? Develop and implement assigned programs/projects, identifying issues and proposing corrective actions.

? Assist in the roll-out of SSR sensitization and training modules for UN personnel.
,
? Develop job profiles for SSR Officers and assess applications for technical clearance.
,
? Organize and prepare high-quality written outputs, including policies and reports.
,
? Provide substantive support to conferences and meetings.
Requirements
? Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in security sector management, public administration, governance, international relations, or a related field.

? A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme or project management, policy development, or coordination in peace and security.

? Experience providing technical SSR support to government counterparts in conflict or post-conflict settings is desirable.
,
? Previous experience in a UN peacekeeping or special political mission is desirable.
,
? Experience in political analysis related to conflict-affected countries is desirable.
Nice-to-haves
? Fluency in French is required; knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

? Experience advising and/or supporting senior management is desirable.

? Experience developing policy and guidance is desirable.
