This position supports after hours court activities, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis depending on court scheduling. The incumbent in this position will work closely with judges, judicial assistants, attorneys and other court staff.
The length of this temporary position is anticipated to be six months, but can be extended based funding availability. No benefits apply to this position. **Starting salary will not exceed 10 percent of the base salary** Prepare and print court calendars and order files scheduled for hearing.
Prepare files for court and process subsequent court paperwork. Records case activity for entry into the case management system. Attend court proceedings to provide an accurate record of court orders, notes or sentences by transferring information as stated by judges during court proceedings; and complete paperwork .
Complete paperwork on directives issued by the court and required for disposition of case. Distribute copies to agencies and parties involved. Clerk weekend First Appearance court proceedings and process weekend advisory paperwork from Sheriff's Department.
Perform other duties as required. Be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Regular attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or possession of an accredited equivalency diploma and (3) years of experience in legal or court related clerical support work. Depending on assignment, ability to type at a rate of 35 words per minute. Preference is given to candidates with experience in a government entity performing similar functions.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the Florida Statutes and Rules of Procedure. Knowledge of office procedures, Business English, spelling, and basic arithmetic. Knowledge of the principles and processes for effective, professional customer service.
Strong interpersonal & skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills for word processing, spreadsheet, database, and accounting software. Ability to simultaneously listen, select proper forms, record information, interpret file data, prepare and rapidly distribute correct information to the Judge, regarding court procedures and processes in a fast pace environment. CONDITIONS OF JOB OFFER AND EMPLOYMENT Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
