In ambulatory clinic environments, LPNs and Medical Assistants are integral in the provision of both direct and indirect patient care. They actively engage with the healthcare team, fulfilling assigned duties according to Monument Health's standards to meet the individual requirements of each patient.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
? Gets the examination and treatment spaces ready following the clinic's recommended procedures.
? Executes patient rooming protocols by measuring vital signs, gathering data, and fulfilling other designated tasks appropriate for the clinic environment.
? Correctly administers and documents unit dose medications/immunizations according to clinic policy upon successful completion of training/competency evaluation.
? Executes EKG assessments and laboratory tests authorized by the clinic's CLIA license post successful completion of training and competency assessment.
? Ensures that the documentation in the patient record is accurate, lucid, and succinct within the specified Scope of Responsibilities. May undertake the role of a scribe for providers after receiving proper training.
? Executes all assigned office tasks and supervises supply upkeep and ordering following directives.
? Assists in setting up future care and scheduled visits as directed by the healthcare professional.
? Delivers pre-existing or pre-authorized patient education materials and channels any patient inquiries to the provider or RN.
? Completes tasks within the approved Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
? Completing any further tasks as delegated.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility
Certification - Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the listed certifying bodies; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire
Any Medial Assistant hired between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2024 may be granted 6 months to obtain national certification.
Any Medical Assistant hired after July 1, 2024 must hold one of the following national certifications upon hire:
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
American Medical Technologists (AMT)
National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
Preferred:
Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursingCertification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of NursingExperience - 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
