Senior Pharmacist
Posted 2025-04-22? Dispense and ship drugs through mail order pharmacy on a statewide basis to clients and health care personnel within the County Health Departments (CHDs).
? Serve as the Pharmacy Manager?s primary assistant in all operations.
? Provide pharmaceutical support on a statewide basis to clients and health care personnel within the CHDs as needed.
? Assist with selecting Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians as requested by the Department.
? In collaboration with the Department, provide supervisory duties, which may include, but are not limited to:
? Assist the Pharmacy Manager with developing performance plans and performance appraisals as requested by the Department;
? Plan and assign duties for the Pharmacy Technicians as requested by the Department;
? Performing corrective action related to Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician?s performance as directed by the Department; and
? Provide supervision and review of pharmacy support staff to ensure quality control throughout the contract term. Verify the accuracy of the data entry of prescriptions and any drug interactions conducted by the Pharmacy Technician(s).
? Fill and dispense the Department?s BPHP Prescription Program medications and pharmacy records as specified by the Department and Florida law as follows:
? Fill prescription medications and ensure that the computer-generated documents as specified by the Department and Florida law are included for the correct delivery of medication shipments to CHDs throughout the contract term.
? Order all monthly prescription requests received from CHDs and Department of Corrections as directed by the Department.
? Ensure pharmaceutical supplies are stored appropriately based on product stability and the manufacturer recommendations throughout the contract term.
? Ensure daily controlled drug report and dispensed daily logbook are initialed and dated.
? Review client medical profiles for possible medication and food interactions.
? Inform clients of drug interactions or allergies and supply the Department?s, BPHP?s, and drug manufacturer?s documents regarding drug interactions or allergies to clients as needed.
? Attend and participate in the Central Pharmacy's Quality Improvement Committee meeting as requested by the Department.
? Perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural, as directed by the Department
