Responsibilities

The Nursing and Medical Specialties Unit is seeking a motivated and qualified Sr. Software Engineer to join the Nursing IT Team. The team mainly develops and supports custom applications for the Department of Nursing (DON). Qualified candidates must be competent in C#/.NET, Angular, React, APIs (REST, FHIR, Apigee), MS SQL/relational databases, HL7, client/server development, and web development. Familiarity with Google Cloud, Azure DevOps, Generative AI, and Agile methodologies is a must. Willingness to stay up to date with emerging technologies.

This is not a heads-down development position, but will focus on Solution Architecture, understanding the overall interaction of all DON applications, both developed and vended. The candidate must have excellent communication skills to interact with the clinical practice leaders and staff to get requirements, design solutions, and provide support. There will be development, mostly around interfacing APIs to vended systems and involvement in new applications. Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline services in the cloud is an added plus. Ability to work on multiple initiatives and ability to re-prioritize based on changing demands. Successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Application support and participation in 24/7 on-call rotation are required. A Codility Test will be required as part of the candidate selection process.

This is a remote position, however the incumbent will need to work on campus 1 - 2 times per month. Therefore preference will be given to candidates within 70 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience as noted below; OR an Associate?s degree in Computer/Science/Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience.

Have in-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience coding applications or services in a high-level language (C, C++, Golang, Java, C# etc.) and a basic knowledge of related fields.
Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills. Possesses strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions. Experience with modern application development frameworks
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Deep hands-on technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Agile software development techniques.
? Preferred qualifications for this position include:
? Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
? Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.
? Experience writing software for the cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure).
? Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products.
? Experience building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.
? Experience developing software for healthcare related industries.
