What You?ll Do
As Student Services Advisor you?ll play a key role in overseeing student program activities and events for assigned clubs and organizations. Provides day-to-day organizational and technical support, assistance, and advice to students in leadership roles, student groups, clubs, and organizations. Ensures that student activities, events, and expenditures are in accordance with the College?s policies and federal and state regulations. This position will also direct all aspects of the college student conduct system, including decision-making regarding general policy and individual cases and promoting a safe environment. Complete other duties assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Services and Manager of Student Life.
Day-to-day, you?ll be responsible for:
Student Life:
? Oversee the planning of student program activities and events for assigned groups or clubs (e.g., the Associated Students Organization).
? Attend campus club events and club meetings at the request of the club advisor. Participate in student activities, groups, and/or events committees. Advise and provide support to assigned student leadership groups, councils, clubs, organizations, and/or student-related committees.
? Observe and instruct assigned student groups on professional communication, appropriate ways to facilitate meetings, and effective methods for increasing student club participation.
? Prepare, process, and/or review various business documents according to established program requirements and College policies.
Student Conduct:
? Reviews initial police and incident reports of students who have allegedly committed violations of the student code of conduct;
? Conducts pre-hearing/information sessions with students charged with alleged violations of the Code and sends letters to students charged with alleged violations of the Code;
? Coordinate with campus police, faculty and staff, including Student Accessibility Services, and FAMU and FSU officials, regarding campus discipline cases;
? Meet with students and their relative support system in helping them understand the student discipline process; and maintains the confidential database of student records.
Who We?re Looking For
We?re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
? A bachelor?s degree in criminology, psychology, counseling, or a related field
? One (1) year of related work experience.
? A Master?s degree preferred in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field can substitute for the required year of work experience.
Bonus points if you have:
? The ability to work 8:00 A.M. ? 5:00 P.M., Monday ? Friday. ? Hours may vary as needed.
