The Adoptee Mentoring Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2021. We provide virtual mentorship for adoptees, by adoptees. Our mission is to stimulate connection and build community for adopted persons worldwide. Through our tailored service offerings, we help adoptees develop agency over their personal stories, experience a genuine sense of belonging, and feel empowered to shape their identities. We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Web Designer to rebuild the Adoptee Mentoring Society website using our current platform; Squarespace.

Our organization values autonomy, enthusiasm, and personal responsibility. We encourage innovation and welcome new ideas that can help us achieve our mission more effectively. We do this in the following ways:

We trust each other to uphold the individual responsibilities that we agree to and to ask for support when needed. We practice our commitment to building an encouraging, caring, and supportive team environment by openly seeking and offering feedback. We do not avoid tension but rather enter into generative, respectful conflict with the intention of moving towards repair.

We care for ourselves and each other by practicing naming and respecting boundaries.

We hold ourselves to a standard of excellence and strive to make decisions with integrity, centering adoptees and adoptee experiences in everything that we do.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Redesign and build a visually compelling Squarespace site that prioritizes our mentees? user experience.
  • Ensure the site is optimized for accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and ease of navigation.
  • Incorporate branding elements and integrate necessary tools (e.g., donation platforms, event registration, current automations).
  • Collaborate with AMS staff to ensure the site effectively communicates our mission and our vision.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Proven experience building Squarespace websites (must provide portfolio).
  • Strong design skills with an understanding of user experience (UX) and accessibility best practices.
  • Ability to work independently while incorporating feedback.
  • Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations is a plus.

The Interview Process:

1.) Our team will review each application and reference and will respond to all applicants.

2.) If we would like to move forward with your application, you will be invited to schedule a 30 minute phone screen with the Executive Director.

3.) Following the phone screen, you may be invited to participate in a 45-60 minute virtual interview with the AMS leadership team.
