Were looking for passionate in-person and on-line instructors to join our community of teachers. We provide training to tutors, suggest curriculum and offer support and community as needed. We have opportunities for highly experienced tutors, new tutors, and parents and caregivers tutoring for the first time. In the application, we request you record a short one-minute youtube video. Here are a few tips to make your video a success.
The purpose of the video is to see that you have a warm, energetic personality and connect well with kids. 60 seconds is more than enough to convey this. A great video might be something such as : "Hi! My name is Sara and I'm from a small town in Michigan! I majored in psychology and French and Brandeis University. Now, I'm a musician tutoring in my spare time. I love hiking and playing pickle ball! A fun fact about me is that I published my own book on Amazon. Looking forward to meeting you soon!"
1) Make sure you have good lighting in the background
2) Record on your computer (not the phone). It should be horizontal, not vertical
3) Make sure you are looking directly at the camera, or slightly below the camera. This gives the impression you are looking at the person, not down on them. The camera should NOT be below your nose.
4) Make sure you articulate well and can be heard.
