This position is only open to Colorado state residents.
Base pay for this position is typically between $2220-$2441/biweekly ($57,708-$63,468/annually). There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year. This location is also eligible for an additional $2000/month housing stipend, resulting in total pay of $81,708-$87,468/annually. The minimum annualized hourly rate for this position is $27.74/hour (corresponding to $2220/biweekly).
In addition, a 20% shift differential will be paid when half or more of the scheduled shift hours fall on a weekend (anytime between 4:00pm Friday through 6:00am Monday); this applies to the Saturday shift for this position.
There is the option of living in CDOT-owned housing in Frisco, subject to unit availability.

? 1-Bedroom - $1,695 per month
? 2-Bedroom - $2,035 per month

About the Work Unit
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnel (EJMT), which traverses the Continental Divide. The Special Crew Unit maintains and repairs the tunnel facility?s electrical and mechanical equipment.
The Special Crew Unit responds to emergencies including stalled vehicles, accidents, fires, power outages, and medical assists; assists with Continuous Flow Metering (CFM); and takes snow removal shifts as plow drivers and traffic control during Avalanche missions.
About the Position
CDOT has an opening for a Tunnel Facilities Trade Worker, which provides skilled journeyman electrical/mechanical work on the tunnel?s electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. The Tunnel Facilities Trade Worker II position provides an opportunity for successful candidates to continue to learn and practice various skilled trades.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
? Maintain, install, repair, and adjust building heating systems.
? Perform electrical services on equipment within the tunnel structure.
? Maintain, install, repair, and adjust water sewage and potable water distribution systems.
? Maintain, install, repair, and adjust dual speed motors and ventilation fans.
? Safely drive and operate a variety of equipment.
? Respond to tunnel and area vehicle fires utilizing firefighting equipment.
? Participate in tunnel maintenance projects.
? Complete work orders and prepare documents.
? Attend safety meetings and training.
? Maintain constant awareness of hazards and risks.
? Assist with snow plowing and traffic control during large winter/snow events.
? Other job duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
? Schedule for this position is 5:00 am ? 1:30 pm (8 hours) Tuesday & Wednesday and 5:00 am ? 5:30 pm (12 hours) Friday and Saturday.
? Exposure to loud noise, fumes, and extreme temperatures.
? Required to operate CDOT vehicles.
? Required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License Class A or B within 6 months of hire.
? Overtime may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience Only:
? At least 3 years of experience in electrical, HVAC, machinist, plumbing, or other trades relevant to this position.
OR
Education and Experience:
? A combination of relevant education and experience equal to at least 3 years.
Conditions of Employment:
? Must pass a pre-employment screening.
? A current valid driver?s license is required.
? Required to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver?s License within 6 months of hire.
? On-call and shift work may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: ? Demonstrated success with the duties listed in the Description of the Job section. ? Years of State service experience related to the duties of this position. ? Highest work/personal ethics and integrity.
