The Media Relations & Communication Specialist position at Florida State University (FSU) is a highly visible role within the Department of Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC). This position is responsible for managing both internal and external marketing and communications, working closely with NWRDC Senior Leadership to coordinate, establish, and implement an organization-wide internal communications policy. The specialist will lead and coordinate the creation of annual reports, brochures, web content, and various communications aimed at both internal and external audiences. In this role, the incumbent will manage and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives, ensuring that organizational initiatives are effectively communicated to employees. The specialist will also monitor and maintain social media platforms, requiring strong creative writing and public speaking skills to present data to stakeholders. Responsibilities include the creation, distribution, and maintenance of NWRDC communications, ensuring consistency across all channels. The specialist will lead internal-facing social media efforts by developing content calendars and engaging content plans, curating content, and maintaining information on important events and meetings. The role involves interviewing key personnel to generate ideas for new articles and content types, as well as monitoring social media activity to engage customers through relevant content and problem-solving. The specialist will create content and communication campaigns while working in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, proofreading and editing materials for newsletters, reports, and publications. Additionally, the specialist will assist in planning and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that integrates social media, press releases, newsletters, event messaging, earned media, and paid advertising. Building relationships with media organizations, creative agencies, and key stakeholders is essential for enhancing brand awareness for NWRDC. The role also includes managing new-hire introductions and highlighting employee achievements through written communications. The specialist will utilize various tools such as Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Canva, and Word for presentations and record-keeping, and will gather information to develop the NWRDC Annual Report, coordinating its dissemination to stakeholders. Keeping current on media trends and technologies is crucial, as is participating in professional development opportunities to maintain and advance skills relevant to the job.

Requirements
? Bachelor's degree and two years of experience, or a high school diploma and six years of experience.
