Job Description Overview Assists in coordination of the company''''s overall Environmental Plan with specific responsibility for environmental quality standards. Assists Environmental Supervisor in developing specific environmental programs to comply with applicable regulatory requirements. Develops site specific environmental programs to comply with applicable regulatory requirements as needed. Coordinates with state officials in the development and execution of related permits. Other duties as assigned to meet mission and contract/customer requirements. Responsibilities Member of a team of professional Environmental Program Managers and Environmental Technicians performing essential support services for Sheppard Air Force Base. Supports the Environmental Team in the development and monitoring of all Sheppard AFB environmental programs to comply with Federal, State, local and military requirements. Act as liaison with representatives of Base Safety, Fire Department, OSHA, and other government organizations. Responsible for coordinating state permits and registration tasks. Monitors trends to identify environmental issues, problems or hazard areas, and recommend corrective action to the Environmental Supervisor. Supports the management of related environmental plans, data bases, and activities. Will participate in and attend various environmental working groups. Will be required to chair various environmental working groups, as needed. Participates in quarterly meetings in support of the P2/Compliance Subcommittee and the Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Council (ESOHC). Supports all environmental training requirements in accordance with local, Federal, State, and Air Force regulations and contractual requirements. Supports the environmental team in the management of the Pollution Prevention (P2) program. Supports the environmental team in the management of hazardous waste and solid waste (i.e. florescent light bulbs, batteries) and aid in preparing these waste products for shipment. Assists with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) training to installation hazardous waste accumulation site managers and other personnel as applicable. Required to manage one (1) or more environmental programs including, but not limited to: Air, Mold, Toxic Substances (asbestos, Lead, PCB''''s), Water (wastewater, drinking water, storm water), Hazardous Waste, NEPA, Natural and Cultural Resources, Solid Waste Management and Recycling, and Aboveground and Underground Storage Tanks Escorts federal, state and local regulatory officials on base as they conduct various compliance inspections. May be assigned as an EOC or EET member. May be required to manage and/or assist with packaging and shipping of hazardous wastes at the 90 day storage building. May be required to conduct or manage/oversee field inspections of waste collection points, storm water conveyances and other environmental related areas of concern. May be required to manage the inventory in the spill supplies building and report the status of the inventory to the Environmental Supervisor. Manage and/or assists in spill response activities - not to exceed Level C PPE. Other duties as assigned to meet mission and contract/customer requirements. Qualifications Education/Certifications: Bachelor''''s Degree in Engineering or Physical Science (e.g. Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science) from a university accredited in the Degree issued (e.g. ABET for Engineering and Technology) required. Program-Specific Requirements: Current HAZWOPER and RCRA Certification preferred. Valid State Driver''''s License. These certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not currently possessed. Valid State Driver''''s License. Experience: 0-1 year of environmental experience. Must reach a thorough working knowledge of all activities listed under Major Job Activities. Strong working knowledge of environmental programs, EPA, state, local regulations, and contractual requirements: this includes environmental compliance, pollution prevention, conservation, and community relations.
